Strutt Your Mutt – Dog Day & Walk is the annual charity event hosted by Wangford Veterinary Clinic on the beautiful Benacre Estate.
The Strutt Your Mutt website needed to make life easier for the organisers who arrange this alongside their usual full-time day jobs. To do this, the website is designed to streamline many time consuming processes such as the organisation and management of event sponsors, trade stands and volunteers.
Individuals and organisations wanting to take part can apply and supply all their details online, and the organisers simply need to approve these applications. Once approved, the individuals pay any fees via PayPal to complete their application and the website updates with the new information automatically. This saves the organisers from having to update the website manually each time.
Businesses and organisations wishing to have a stand at the event can supply all of their details and apply online. They can choose their pitch size and specify optional extras such as the requirement for an electricity supply.
The event organisers are notified of each application and can then accept or reject them. The applicant is then automatically updated and, if approved, can make online payment of the fees to complete the process. Their stand is then automatically updated on the public vendors list where they are sortable and filterable by type.
Businesses and organisations wishing to support the event by sponsoring it can supply all of their details and apply online. There are different levels of sponsorship available with different levels of visibility on the website and other offline benefits. In a process similar to that for trade stands, the applicant supplies all of the relevant details in their application which means the website admins don't need to enter any of the data, they just need to review the sponsors details and then accept or reject them as appropriate.

One of the central attractions of the Strutt Your Mutt event is the opportunity to walk your dog through areas of the Benacre Estate that are usually private and closed to members of the public. To spread the number of walkers throughout the day, event tickets are sold linked to a specific walk time.
By building the online ticketing system directly into the website rather than using a third-party solution we were able to provide a seamless and consistant experience for visitors as well as avoiding additional fees payable to external sites. Ticket holders could print their own tickets directly from the website and the ticket data was exported into a report for checking against tickets on the day.
